Dried Yet Vibrant

Southerly Flower Farms in Dayton, is owned and operated by wife and husband team of Sarah and Matthew Ervin, and a few farm cats and dogs. “After inheriting a humble piece of land and quaint cabin, they moved away from the city and began hibernating in the country. The land surrounding their home remained idle. It wasn’t until much discussion and deliberation that they decided to put their hands, heart, and land to use by cultivating and harvesting flowers. Sarah grew up around her grandparent’s farm and in the back of her mind, knew she always wanted to farm. This combined their love for the creative side with their deep respect for farming.”

Many think flower farms only bloom during the warmer temperatures but Southerly has a longer shelf life than most in the colder days as they make wreaths, wedding bouquets, centerpieces and head dresses from their dried inventory. Known for their breath-taking bouquets of Dahlias and other vibrant pedals, Southerly’s dried arrangements are just as lively as the fresh ones. This week at our Tuesday Thanksgiving market, they will have holidays wreaths.

As their upcoming wreath making workshop at po.mkt is sold out, there are still several chances to create your own organic arrangements. They will be set up at Mainx24 in front of Greenspaces selling wreaths, hosting a wreath workshop at The Chattery on December 10th, and selling mini wreaths along with present toppers at The Chattery’s Winter Solstice Market on December 21st. And feel free to check out their website or social media to find where you can get yourself a sustainably grown, group of gorgeousness.
