Planning your lover’s day menu? 💓 here’s a farmer’s market suggestion: juicy pork chops, a zesty side salad, and cookies topped with sweet potato frosting!

Contrary to the dry pork chops I remember growing up, the recipe in our blog looks very promising - and we hear @pigmountain.tn even has them on sale this week!

The chops also pair well with a zesty carrot and fennel salad (also in our recipe blog) and most of the ingredients can be found at the market this week!

Sweet potatoes are definitely in abundance at the moment so snag a few of those while you’re shopping this Wednesday and try out the sweet potato frosting recipe - pictured on cookies, but it would be great on top of any cake, pastry, or even ice cream if you’ve got an extra big sweet tooth!

Shop all the ingredients you need this week and impress your lover with a farm-fresh meal that says “I love good food, but I love you more.” 🫶💓✨

There’s something special about meeting the people

There’s something special about meeting the people behind the food we bring home. This week, we’re excited to learn more about a family whose work quite literally starts with millions of tiny wings.

@goodmeasurefarm’s beekeeping operation began six years ago with just four hives and a simple goal - to keep honey on the family table. What started as a small household project quickly grew into a full-time family affair after an opportunity opened up to work alongside another beekeeper.

With hands-on learning, long days, and a whole lot of dedication, those four hives multiplied into a thriving apiary of 180–200 hives.

About 2 million flower visits are needed just to make one pound of honey (I know, I couldn’t believe it either). On a good year, a single hive can produce up to 120 pounds of honey… that’s A LOT of flowers to visit!

What would you like people to know about your honey? “Our bees are on Waldens Ridge and in the Sequatchie Valley surrounded by thousands of acres of natural nectar sources. This keeps our honey free from pesticides and local at the same time.”

In addition to honey, Good Measure Farm also offers pasture-raised chicken and eggs.

When asked what they love most about the Main St Farmers Market, Katherin said, “the sense of community between vendors and the incredible support from customers who show up week after week.”

They’re currently working out the details, but pre-orders will be coming soon! As soon as that’s available, we’ll be sure to share how you can reserve honey, eggs, or chicken ahead of our Wednesday market.

Be sure to stop by their booth, say hello, and taste what millions of flowers (and a lot of family teamwork) can create!
