Siblings Rachel and Jonathan Otto have farming in their blood as their parents and grandparents have been doing it for years in Tennessee. A blessing and a curse, the brother and sister duo were recently forced to move from their farm of twelve years due to a new development. Although an obstacle, Rachel and Jonathan came out ahead as they found a new plot with more acreage and better land. With 88 acres including a natural source of water from a beaver pond, they have been thriving since they relocated this past November.

“We utilize sustainable growing methods to produce the best quality & healthiest food possible! All of the foods we grow and offer to our customers are non-GMO. Many are heirlooms that we find, really enjoy and have collected over the years. Although our farm is not certified Organic, we utilize many “organic” farming methods as a part of being sustainable, such as cover cropping, the use of manures and compost for fertilizers, extensive crop rotation to help prevent disease, etc.”

Offering lettuce, kale, cauliflower, and strawberries a few months ago, they are now excited to bring heirloom tomatoes, three varieties of corn, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant and more to our market in the upcoming months.

TIP: Don’t hesitate to keep your meals simple when buying from a new vendor. Eat the items raw and compare varieties to one another. Really discover what flavors you’re looking for and feel free to ask the farmer what their favorite is!
