After purchasing an 18-acre property off Craigslist in 2016, Robert and Jessie Gantt-Temple felt compelled to reshape the land to highlight all the agricultural potential including the six established, overgrown blueberry bushes. Working diligently with the help of friends and farm critters, like goats Bill Rae and George, to bring previously neglected areas back to life.

Working more than a full time job, Robert handles the books and the operational aspects like building chicken houses and running the tractor.  Jessie, who really works more like five part time jobs, keeps her hands busy on and off the farm. In addition to multimedia freelancing with articles appearing in The Pulse, she in charge of Feathers & Fruit marketing and sales as well as harvesting all the blueberries, blackberries, figs, eggs, spring onions, celery, basil, roses, lilacs and whatever else may pop up on the farm.

Their flock of happy, pastured chickens eat a variety of foods as Feather & Fruit has partnered with two Hixson restaurants to decrease food waste.  Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, turkey bacon, bagels (with and without cream cheese), pastries and the occasional pizza has made it on their menu in addition to conventional feed. Lupi's uses Feathers & Fruit eggs to make all the locations' brownies and lasagna.

While we see no financial benefit to pursuing Federal Organic Certification, we do everything in our power to ensure we grow natural and wholesome products.
