Crabtree Farms is a non-profit project that promotes sustainable agriculture. They are re-energizing Chattanooga’s residents and involving them in the local food-shed through a family of programs that play out in an urban teaching farm.
Crabtree Farms was started in 1998 through public and private partnerships. A 22-acre donated plot of land is now home to the working farm. A team of staff and volunteers cultivates over 100 varieties of sustainably-grown vegetables, fruits and herbs. The farm is available as a classroom and playground for locals. They dig in and get their hands dirty everyday, because their goal is to keep Chattanooga green.
