Scott and Brooke Brown have been farming in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas since 2006. By working on multiple farms for a number of different farmers, they have learned a great deal about their craft. Owning their own farm has been their goal since before getting married in 2008. In 2013 they finally made it happen! They started their farm with a crop of fall heirloom tomatoes of over 1,000 plants. They used the income from their tomatoes to grow their business investing in greenhouses for starting seed and for year round vegetable production, and a strawberry patch of 5,600 strawberry plants! They now currently sell at four different Chattanooga area farmers’ markets, and run a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA).
Brown Dirt Farm is deeply rooted in the ideals of local economy. They believe in the value of the local dollar. Brown Dirt Farm agrees that money spent locally not only helps our neighboring businesses, it makes our community stronger. Through promoting local agriculture, by growing fruits and vegetables, they hope to increase the vibrancy of the Chattanooga area, offering our customers a closer relationship to their food and to the farmers who grow it. They spare no expense to bring our customers the very best, most nutritionally dense food the earth has to offer. They believe that happy food makes happy people!
